The January 6, 2021 insurrection was a dark day for American democracy. The lack of action against those responsible for this attack has been frustrating and concerning for many Americans. In the aftermath of January, 6th, one thing has proven true “No One is Above the Law” is a LIE!
While some have defended the Department of Justice’s handling of the case, others believe that Attorney General Merrick Garland has been too weak and ineffective, and that President Biden must act now to replace him. I am firmly in the camp of Garland has been ineffective. His pursuit to appear non political has made his decisions appear political.
In this blog post, we will explore the case for immediate action and the need for a more aggressive and proactive Department of Justice.
It has been over two years since the January 6, 2021 insurrection, and yet, none of the ringleaders, planners, financiers, or organizers of this heinous attack on our nation’s capital have faced any consequences. The faith in DOJ is low as a result of the clear evidence of dual justice systems.
Blame Rests on Merrick Garland
And the blame lies squarely on the shoulders of Attorney General Merrick Garland, who has proven to be too weak and ineffective for the job. President Biden should immediately fire him and appoint someone who is willing to take on the powerful individuals responsible for this attack on our democracy.
While it is true that justice takes time, the lack of accountability for those responsible for the insurrection is unacceptable, as the Department of Justice must operate within the bounds of the law and due process.
The DOJ must recognize the severity of the moment we are in. Our democracy is in peril. The Department of Justice must aggressively pursue and hold accountable those who seek to undermine the democracy.
We cannot afford to be patient or make excuses for Garland’s lack of action. Those responsible for January 6th insurrection must face justice for their attack on the very foundation of our democracy..
We must demand a more proactive DOJ. One that is willing to take on powerful individuals, no matter where they reside or what position they hold.
The American people must actively hold their elected officials accountable for their actions and actively demand that justice be served. We must continue to push for accountability and transparency, no matter how long it takes.
Democracy Worth Fighting for
Our democracy is worth fighting for, and we must never give up the fight. It is time for a change in leadership at the Department of Justice, and President Biden must act now.
It is unacceptable those responsible for January 6th haven’t been held accountable. There is a clear need for a more aggressive and proactive Department of Justice. President Biden must replace Garland with someone who is willing to take on the powerful individuals responsible for attack on our democracy. Someone who actually will enforce the maxim that No One is Above the Law.
We must demand accountability and transparency, and never give up the fight for justice. Our democracy is worth fighting for, and we must continue to push for a more just and equitable society.
